Recurring Awareness Through Movement Group Class

Weekly group ATM students explore their physical and mental connectedness through simple poses and movements similar to Tai Chi or gentle yoga. With each individual lesson dealing with a region of the body or common physical action, students gain a deeper knowledge of how their body works together while moving and at rest.
This holistic practice, a core part of the Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education, is commonly tied to lowered stress and anxiety levels in its students, as well as noticeable physical benefits including but not limited to: increased flexibility, strength, balance, blood flow, comfort, and ease.
Awareness Through Movement® classes are usually conducted standing or lying on the floor, although a chair or pad may, at times, be necessary. No experience or athletic ability is required; all students are welcome.
Donna Wood’s practice, Feldenkrais San Diego, is rooted in her more than twenty-five years of immersion in the Feldenkrais Method®, Aikido, and Capoeira. Her experience as a sculptor, dancer, and musician informs her work in a way that illuminates human movement as an art form.
